How much did your District councillors make in 2021?

The District of Muskoka has released remuneration data for councillors for 2021, as required by the Municipal Act.

Total council remuneration for 2021 was $603,989.63 compared to $579,698.78 in 2020, an increase of 4.2 per cent, according to a report to be presented at next week’s District council meeting.

Remuneration includes the honorarium and statutory benefits for each member of council and health benefits paid for the District chair.

In addition, the remuneration paid to two District councillors in their capacity as Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit board members is included.

Councillors are also paid by their respective municipalities, in the amounts included in brackets.

District council remuneration and benefits for 2021 were:

Cairns, Sandy* $24,817.08 (Gravenhurst councillor $24,458.66)
Clement, Steven $21,790.08 (Bracebridge councillor $29,574.26)
Cooper, Peter $21,790.08 (Georgian Bay councillor $29,842)
Edwards, Allen $21,790.08 (Muskoka Lakes deputy mayor – not yet released)
Glover, Terry $22,764.22 (Lake of Bays mayor $51,710.34)
Gordon, John $21,790.08 (Gravenhurst councillor $24,690.68)
Harding, Phil $22,764.22 (Muskoka Lakes mayor – not yet released)
Jaglowitz, Frank $21,790.08 (Muskoka Lakes councillor – not yet released)
Kelly, Paul $21,790.08 (Gravenhurst mayor $44,750.51)

*As Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit board members for 2021, Koetsier and Cairns received $1,538.60 and $2,052.86 respectively, included in the above remuneration figures.
