A man who took part in a vicious assault was sentenced for his crimes in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.
Matthew-Bray Maude-Duncan, 23, of Huntsville was sentenced on several charges including break and enter, and assault with a weapon.
On October 17, 2022, Huntsville OPP responded to a disturbance call at a residence located on King William St.
Court heard that Maude-Duncan and Kyle Spence, who had already pled guilty to his part in the incident, showed up at the victim’s house and the victim met them at the front door. The men then asked to come upstairs, were refused by the victim and a scuffle ensued.
During the assault, Maude-Duncan shot the victim with a BB gun handgun while Spence hit the victim in the head with a baseball bat.
Court heard both of the accused had criminal records at the time of the assault.
Maude-Duncan was sentenced to 90 days in jail to be served intermittently, six months of house arrest and six months under curfew.
Both men were ordered to pay $920 each in restitution for the damage they did to the building during the break-and-enter.
