Huntsville man guilty of assaulting underage girl

A local man was in court recently to pled guilty to charges stemming from a September 3, 2022,  incident which occurred in Huntsville.

Patrick Thompson, 31, had originally been charged with sexual assault, court heard, but he ultimately pled guilty to charges of simple assault.

Court heard that on the day in question, Thompson picked up several girls aged 15 and 16 in a vehicle and transported them to a party.

At the party, individuals were consuming marijuana and alcohol, and the 15-year-old female victim of the assault became intoxicated to the point where she was having trouble walking, court heard. According to the girl’s friends, Thomspon proceeded to pick up the victim and carry her out of the room. 

The victim’s friends became concerned and eventually found the victim in another part of the house under a blanket, naked. 

Court heard that the charges were based on the fact that contact with the victim could not have been consensual due to on her level of intoxication. 

Thompson claimed he had simply been helping the victim find a phone charger.

A victim impact statement was also presented to the court outlining the effect of the incident on the victim.

Thomspon was given a suspended sentence and 12 months probation.
