A driver on probation added to his list of convictions in a Bracerbidge courtroom recently.
Roberto Villapando-Hernandez recently pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system.
Court heard that on Nov. 9, 2023, at 1:16 pm Bracebridge OPP observed a pick-up truck driving over the speed limit on Wellington Street. The truck accelerated rapidly and passed a cruiser, which followed the suspect to Dill Street, where he was stopped.
The driver, Villapando-Hernandez, smelled of alcohol, court heard, and a red plastic cup with alcohol was observed in the cupholder.
Breath readings came back with 160 mg of alcohol, double the legal limit.
Villapando-Hernandez was prohibited from driving at the time, due to a previous impaired driving conviction and was also on probation.
Sentencing was put over to a later date.
