An impaired driver who missed his turn-off had to answer for himself in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.
Andre Pepin, 64, pleaded guilty to impaired driving following his arrest on Sept. 10, 2021.
Court heard that on that day at roughly 6:30 pm they were called by a concerned motorist who thought Pepin might be impaired. Before uniformed officers could arrive, the driver was pulled over by an off-duty OPP officer.
The court heard that when on-duty officers arrived Pepin could barely stand, and smelled of alcohol. He told police he was headed for a location in Gravenhurst but he was informed that he had missed his exit by some 40 km.
He was arrested and ultimately blew readings of 189 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, more than double the legal limit.
He was given a one year driving ban and $1,500 fine.
