An impaired Gravenhurst driver who nearly hit a 14-year-old boy on Beaver Ridge Road before crashing into a deck is under house arrest.
Joseph Craffigan, 29, recently appeared in a Bracebridge courtroom to plead guilty to impaired driving.
Court heard that on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 8:20 a.m. Bracebridge OPP officers along with Muskoka Paramedic Services and Gravenhurst Fire Department responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision.
The vehicle had been travelling on Beaver Ridge Road in Gravenhurst and left the roadway, colliding with the deck of a residence.
Court heard that before crashing into the deck, the vehicle nearly hit a 14-year-old boy on the roadway, forcing him to jump into a ditch to avoid being struck.
One occupant of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
Craffigan was sentenced to four months under house arrest, 12 months probation and a one-year driving ban.
