Impaired Muskoka drivers have their day in court

A pair of drivers were in a Bracebridge courtroom recently to answer to impaired driving-related charges.

In unrelated incidents, Willliam Cherurnyj and Brandon Alldred, 23 pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in their system

In Cherurnyj’s case, the court heard that on November 27, 2023, at 2:32 pm, he was driving a pick-up truck with a trailer attached on Hwy 11 southbound in Bracebridge. Court heard Cherurnyj lost control of the vehicle in “blizzard conditions” and crashed into the centre median.

Police attended and smelled alcohol on the driver, who ultimately blew readings of 150 mg of alcohol.

Cherurnyj was sentenced to a $2,500 fine, a one-year driving ban and one year of probation.

In Alldred’s case, on Aug 12, 2023, at 11:48 pm police spotted a pick-up truck driving with no headlights or taillights on Muskoka Road 3.

The OPP pulled Alldred over and suspected he had been drinking. He ultimately blew readings of 140 mg of alcohol.

He was sentenced to a $1,500 fine and banned from driving for one year.
