Lakeland EV Charging is set for significant expansion.
Lakeland announced recently they are increasing their public network by adding 17 new sites across central Ontario. This development will increase the total number of stations to 33 by Fall 2026. The expansion will introduce 50 new chargers, which includes 26 dual-port DC fast chargers (DCFC) with a capacity of 180kW, enabling approximately 100 kilometers of charging in 10 minutes.
The expansion is being funded in part by Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) to and Ontario’s EV ChargeON program.
“The Government of Canada is committed to ensuring that Canadians have access to reliable and available charging options wherever they travel. We are pleased to invest in the development of EV charging stations for drivers in Ontario and across the nation,” stated the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
“Increasing access to EV chargers outside major urban centres addresses gaps in local charging infrastructure and alleviates range anxiety,” remarked Prabmeet Sarkaria, Ontario’s Minister of Transportation. “Through the EV ChargeON Community Sites Stream Program, our government has approved 270 projects to date, including Lakeland EV Charging’s initiative, highlighting our commitment to transforming Ontario into a global leader in clean energy.”
Lakeland EV Charging has partnered with the ChargeHub Passport Hub, Canada’s largest EV charging network. This partnership allows drivers to locate and access Lakeland EV chargers through the ChargeHub app, which connects users to thousands of charging stations nationwide.
Peter Ewald, Director of Lakeland EV Charging, stated, “Now people can enjoy exploring this beautiful part of Ontario with their electric vehicles.” He added that “With our head office based in Bracebridge, our local technicians ensure consistent maintenance and can respond quickly for service support.”
