A trio of students from Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School recently got the opportunity to go head-to-head with the best in Ontario at the OFSAA track and field championships.
The meet was held earlier from June 8 to 10 at the University of Western Ontario in London.
Athletes who qualified for the meet included Mitchell Jibb, Ben Hewick and Sydney Freeman.
The team fared well up against nearly 3,000 athletes who qualified from 850 schools across the province.
Jibb finished 7th in novice boys shot put and 12th in novice boys discus.
Hewick finished 11th in junior boys javelin.
Freeman finished third in senior girls 400 m hurdles and 5th in senior girls 100 m hurdles.
Of particular note Freeman’s bronze medal in the 400 m marked her fourth medal in the past three years at the provincial championships.
