Liquor store theft leads to scuffle with police

 A Huntsville man was back in court recently to answer for multiple thefts from the LCBO.

Appearing recently in Bracebridge court, Matthew Flynn, 39, pled guilty to two counts of theft and one count of resisting arrest.

Court heard that on Jan 14, 2023, Huntsville OPP was contacted regarding a man who had stolen from the LCBO twice in the past week.

In both instances, a man was observed on security footage putting a bottle of liquor inside his coat and leaving the store without paying for it. The OPP recognized Flynn from the video.

The police spotted Flynn on the street a short time later however he ignored their commands and a struggle ensued.

Flynn has a criminal record that includes an incident in 2022 when he stole a pick-up truck while impaired and then crashed it.

He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 12 months probation.
