Local innovator’s squirrel proof bird feeders raise hospital funds

From the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation:

Adam Sontag of Gravenhurst is once again giving back to the  community. For the past decade, Adam, a beloved local craftsman, from Sontag’s Pagoda  Bird Feeders has been quietly supporting the town’s healthcare system in a truly unique  way—by donating a portion of sales from his hand crafted and locally made squirrel-proof  bird feeders to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation.

At 91, Adam continues to handcraft each bird feeder with the same passion he had when he  first began, but it’s his dedication to giving back to the community that has truly made a  difference. Over the last ten years, his contributions have helped fund vital pieces of  hospital equipment, all in support of enhancing patient care at South Muskoka Memorial  Hospital.

“Having a community hospital is important to me. I’ve seen the impact it has on people’s  lives, and I look forward to seeing a new, modern hospital in our town’s future,” said Adam, whose commitment to the hospital has become a source of inspiration for others in  the community. “It feels good to know that something I enjoy doing can help make that  happen.”

The South Muskoka Hospital Foundation is grateful for Adams’s ongoing generosity and  innovative approach to fundraising. “We are so fortunate to have individuals like Adam  who find unique ways to support our hospital” said Kathryn Devlin, Development Officer.

With over ten years of various fundraising initiatives, Adam has proven that with a bit of  creativity and a lot of heart, anyone can make a difference.
