Monck Public School Bands Strike Double Gold at National MusicFest

A talented group of Grade 7 and 8 students from Monck Public School delivered an outstanding performance this week at MusicFest Canada Nationals in Niagara Falls, with both the school’s Jazz Band and Concert Band earning the prestigious Gold Standard designation.

Winning a Gold Standard at MusicFest Canada Nationals represents the highest level of achievement awarded at the festival, recognizing superior musical excellence, technical ability, and artistry among hundreds of ensembles from across the country.

Each year, thousands of young musicians and hundreds of ensembles participate in the annual national finals. Adjudicated groups are awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Merit standards based on their performances, with Gold Standard signifying excellence across all facets of musical performance.

The 54th annual MusicFest Canada: The Nationals took place May 11–16 at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre in Niagara Falls. The event is recognized as Canada’s largest educational music convention, bringing together approximately 8,000 elite student musicians from elementary, secondary, and post-secondary schools nationwide.

Throughout the week, ensembles compete in adjudicated performances while also taking part in clinics, workshops, and guest concerts led by world-class music professionals.
