The Muskoka Discovery Centre is excited to welcome award-winning author Maureen Jennings for a special evening as part of the Artist Life Stories – Speaker Series with a Twist, happening on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 7:30 PM.
This unique event series is like a perfectly mixed cocktail: two parts in-depth conversation, one part audience Q&A, and a dash of the unexpected. Each evening includes two 40-minute interview sets and concludes with an exclusive post-show meet and greet. Guests will walk away with a deeper understanding of the artist and the stories behind their work.
Tickets are $60 per person, and seating is limited for this up-close experience.
Maureen Jennings: Murdoch and Beyond
Best known for her internationally acclaimed Murdoch Mysteries series, Maureen Jennings has been a cornerstone of Canadian crime fiction. Born in the UK and now based in Toronto, Jennings’ Murdoch Mysteries has become a cultural touchstone, with the television series now entering its 18th season and airing in over 120 countries. She serves as a creative consultant for the show and contributes a script to each season.
Jennings has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including the Grant Allen Award and the 2024 Grand Master Award from Crime Writers of Canada. Her newest literary series, set in the volatile pre-WWII era, features Private Investigator Charlotte Frayne. The most recent installment, March Roars, continues to build on the series’ growing popularity. In 2024, her dramatic play Dying Like This was professionally produced by Theatre Roulant.
During this special evening, Jennings will share personal photos from her archives and reflect on her journey as a writer, her inspirations, and what lies ahead.
