Muskoka Liberal candidate fired one day after being selected

Less than 24 hours after the Liberals announced their candidate for Muskoka-Parry Sound he has been fired.

On Tuesday the provincial Liberals announced that Barry Stanley, a Bracebridge resident and retired elementary school teacher from the York Region District School Board will be representing the riding in the upcoming election. That announcement was followed today by an article in the Toronto Star, wherein Stanley asserts that homosexuality is caused by infants “rebreathing” their own air shortly after birth.

Later the same day the Liberals abruptly fired Stanely, saying that he was terminated as soon as the information came to light.

In 2009 Stanley self-published a book entitled “Rebreathing”, which is currently available on Amazon. The book lays out Stanley’s thoughts on the effects of rebreathing as it pertains to a number of illnesses ranging from Alzheimer’s disease to learning disabilities.

In the Star article, Stanley admits his theory is controversial and has not been scientifically proven.
