The Bracebridge courts dealt with a pair of impaired-driving-related offences recently.
Corey Hall, 24, and Tony Altenburg, 52, of Hawkestone pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, stemming from unrelated incidents.
Court heard that on July 22, 2024, Bracebridge OPP received a complaint regarding a vehicle weaving in and out of lanes on Hwy 11 and nearly crashing. The police caught up with the vehicle and observed the driver struggling to maintain his lane.
The driver, Altenburg, was pulled over and ultimately blew readings of 268 mg of alcohol, more than triple the legal limit.
Court heard Altenburg has a criminal record that includes impaired driving.
He was fined $4,000, banned from driving for two years and put on two years probation.
In an unrelated incident, on Dec. 16, 2023, at 3:20 am Huntsville OPP received a call regarding a vehicle that had crashed into a stand of trees off Hwy 11. At the scene, Hall told police he was supposed to be the designated driver for the evening but admitted he had consumed alcohol.
He blew readings of 100 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. Hall was fined $1,000 and banned from driving for one year.
