The brief tenure of The Muskoka Tourism and Marketing Agency’s latest Executive Director has come to an end.

In a statement yesterday, the Muskoka Tourism Board of Directors said that effective immediately Janet O’Connell is no longer employed by Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency. O’Connell was hired in September of 2020 following more than 30 years spent in the tourism and not-for-profit sectors.

“We appreciate the work Janet did for Muskoka Tourism, and we wish her the best in her future endeavours,” reads the statement.

According to the MTMA, any projects that O’Connel was involved with will now be handled in the interim by the communications manager.

“The Board of Directors will share more details when available to fill this position permanently,” says the MTMA.

The 2022 marketing plan will continue to be executed as planned and presented, they continue.

“The Board of Directors is extremely committed to ensuring Muskoka Tourism creates innovative and creative marketing to inspire visitors to choose Muskoka first and often as their destination of choice year-round.”

Doppler is in the process of gaining further comment from the Board.
