Muskoka Woods reopens after Covid outbreak

The popular Muskoka Woods in Rosseau announced this morning that they will be reopening Aug. 22.

On August 1 the Camp issued a letter to parents indicating there was a covid-19 outbreak at Muskoka Woods and the facility would be closed to campers until further notice.

This morning the Camp issued the following statement:

“It’s official. Muskoka Woods is opening up again for your children. On Saturday evening, we received approval from Public Health to re-open our gates. Summer camp is “Back Better Than Ever”.

We are excited to confirm that the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) has given glowing reviews of Muskoka Woods safety protocols and has declared the outbreak over. With no new cases developing in our staff or guests over the last few days, the case count was limited to 12, with most being in one cohort of guests and staff. According to Public Health, the way we’ve managed the outbreak has been exemplary. With this news in mind, we are welcoming all our staff back in the coming days and will be ready to welcome campers for Week 8 (Aug 22 – 28) and/or Classic – Week 9 (Aug 29 – Sept 3)!

The health and safety of our guests and staff continues to inform everything we do at Muskoka Woods. As summer camp resumes, we will continue to follow our comprehensive COVID-19 Safety Plan and work closely with our medical team and local Public Health to run summer camp safely this season.”
