Neighbour dispute leads to over 80 conviction

A 51-year-old man has been fined and prohibited from driving after pleading guilty to an impaired driving offence in Bracebridge court.

Court heard that on Oct. 6, 2025, at about 6:45 p.m., officers with the Ontario Provincial Police were called to a dispute between neighbours in Muskoka Lakes Township. While investigating, officers noticed a nearby vehicle parked with its lights on and engine running.

Police found Arney seated in the driver’s seat and suspected he was impaired. A breath test later revealed a blood alcohol reading of 217 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood — well above the legal limit of 80 mg.

The court also heard that Arney has a previous criminal record.

He was fined $2,500 and received a one-year driving prohibition.
