Children in Bracebridge’s Mattamy subdivision will soon have another way to burn off some excess energy, courtesy of a new playground.
During Tuesday’s general committee meeting councillors agreed to execute an agreement with the Clearbrook Building Corporation to develop a new neighbourhood park.
The new park will have sidewalks on both Browning Boulevard and Chambery Street, surrounding the corner lot.
The Town of Bracebridge and the Clearbrook Corporation have been working in collaboration for several years on the project.
According to Clearbrook’s information on demographics, 47% of the residents in the subdivision are under the age of 55.
Anticipated construction and completion of the new playground are expected to take place in the fall of 2022.
The project is anticipated to cost $114,000 and Clearbrook has agreed to contribute $60,000.
There was some discussion among Council about ensuring proper parking spaces for bicycles but Council was supportive of the project on the whole and voted unanimously to move it forward.
