The province has now concluded their investigation into a workplace fatality that occurred in Gravenhurst on June 23, 2023.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) recently confirmed that there will be no fines or charges from the accident at Alexander Muskoka Residence located on Isaac Street in Gravenhurst.

“All orders and requirements have now been complied with and the Ministry’s investigation is now complete,” said Kalem McSween of the  MLITSD.

McSween said since June 23, 2023, the Ministry has issued four requirements to the employer, Design Exteriors Inc. The Aurora-based company was issued four requirements to provide documentation to the Ministry.

The Ministry issued three requirements to the constructor, Huntsville-based Greystone Project Management Inc. One requirement was for documentation, another was not to disturb the scene and a third was for video footage. All of those requirements have now been completed.

The worker was operating a piece of lift equipment on the exterior of the building when it overturned. He was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
