Northern Pass to Conquer Cancer sets out from Sportsplex tomorrow

From the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation:

The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (The  PMCF) is proud to host the 9th annual Northern Pass to Conquer Cancer on  Saturday, August 9th at the Bracebridge Sportsplex.

Riders will depart in waves beginning at 7am. The finish line festivities including live  music and lunch will begin at 11:30am, with closing ceremonies beginning at 1pm.  Media are invited to cover Muskoka’s premier cycling and fundraising event in  support of life-saving cancer research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre – where  over 1,600 researchers and staff are working to create a world free from the fear of  cancer.

This year’s event includes 4 unique routes with 160km, 100km, 80 km, and 40km options. Cyclists will ride through beautiful Muskoka, while raising vital funds to  transform cancer outcomes for patients and their loved ones across Canada. While  each of the 500 participants have their own reasons for riding, all are united to Carry  The Fire towards a world free from the fear of cancer.

The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is Canada’s leading cancer research and  treatment centre. Groundbreaking discoveries at The Princess Margaret change how  the world understands, prevents, diagnoses, and treats cancer.

With 2 in 5 Canadians facing a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, and a concerning  increase among younger generations, funds raised at Northern Pass go to more  breakthroughs in early detection, innovative treatments, and comprehensive support  to help cancer patients and their loved ones here in Canada and around the world.
