Port Carling man sentenced for impaired driving following collision

Shane Houle, 21, of Port Carling, has pleaded guilty in a Bracebridge court to impaired driving.

Court heard that on Feb. 17, 2026, members of the Ontario Provincial Police in Huntsville were called to a single-vehicle collision on Balsam Chutes Road in Port Sydney. A caller reported that a vehicle was stuck in a snowbank.

Police attended and determined Houle had been operating the vehicle. He later provided breath samples over the legal limit.

The court heard Houle had a previous impaired driving conviction.

He was fined $2,000 and handed a 12-month driving prohibition.
