Prison visit ends in over 80 conviction

A trip to a Gravenhurst correctional facility ended in charges for multiple people and at least one conviction for driving while over the legal limit of alcohol.

Earlier this week, a Bracebridge court heard that on May 15, 2020 at roughly 9:15 pm, the Bracebridge OPP received a call about someone attempting to throw a package over the fence at Fenbrook Institution. Police set up a roadblock and when they stopped the vehicle, they smelled alcohol on the driver, Angela Wilson 47.

Wilson and a passenger were charged with multiple offences, and on Tuesday Wilson pleaded guilty to one of the charges – driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

Wilson was sentenced to a one-year driving ban and a $1,500 fine.
