Reduced-load restrictions lifted in Gravenhurst May 16

During the annual spring thaw period, the Town of Gravenhurst places reduced-load restrictions on most roadways.

Effective Saturday, May 16, at 12:01 a.m., reduced-load restrictions will be lifted.

Truck operators are reminded that the purpose of seasonal load restrictions is to protect the road and road base from damage caused by heavy loads, with the goal of increasing the life cycle of municipal roadways.

Until May 16, when the half-load restrictions are lifted, truck operators travelling through the Town of Gravenhurst are legally obligated to only use permitted designated truck routes. This same requirement extends to designated District of Muskoka roads and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) highways.
