Speeding ticket leads to guns, drugs and an impaired driver

A cocaine dealer was in a Bracebridge courtroom recently to plead guilty to a laundry list of charges.

Clayton Eisan, 34, of Port Carling, pleaded guilty to possessing a handgun without a license and while prohibited, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, obstructing a police officer, impaired driving, multiple counts of breaching court order, cutting off a GPS monitor and stealing a prize pack from an A&W.

According to an OPP report, on Sept. 14 at 12:10 a.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer patrolling on Muskoka Road 169, near Acton Island Road, noticed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

During the traffic stop, police say one occupant of the vehicle said they needed medical care. Paramedics attended and took the person to hospital for an unrelated, non-life-threatening condition, according to a news release.

Upon investigation, the driver, Eisan, was charged with the offences he pled guilty to in Bracebridge, along with several other offences.

The reading of facts and sentencing were put over until June 11, 2024.
