Support local seniors with the Bracebridge Library’s annual program

The Bracebridge Library is launching its fifth annual Santa for Seniors  program.

The program is done in partnership with the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, District of Muskoka, James Street  Retirement Residence, The Pines Long-Term Care Home, Muskoka Hills Retirement Villa, and Castle Peak Retirement  Residence. Seniors living at any of the residences have submitted anonymous wish lists for patrons to take and fulfill.  After taking one (or more), patrons buy at least one gift from the list, wrap it, and return it to the library before Friday,  December 12.

The lists are available at the Bracebridge Library, located at 34 Salmon Avenue, as of Wednesday, November 12.

Once all the wish lists are gone, they will be replaced with ones listing the most needed items at the Manna Food Bank in  Bracebridge.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator Mathew Reisler explains how some seniors may not be able to see their  loved ones during the holidays.

“Our community is what it is because of the dedication of the previous generations,” he says. “We know some seniors  may not be able to see their families during the holidays, so this program is our – and the community’s – way of saying  thank you and showing them how much we care about them.”
