Swim advisories posted for Boyer’s Beach, lifted for Gull Lake

Effective today (Aug. 20) Boyer’s Beach in Bracebridge is now under a swimming advisory, while Gull Lake Beach has had their advisory lifted.

Based on beach water samples collected by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) on Thursday, August 19, 2021, it has been recommended by the SMDHU that Bowyer’s Beach (1019 Bowyer’s Beach Road) be posted with swim advisory signs.

Water quality can change from day to day or even hour to hour depending on the weather and other conditions. Bacteria levels can increase in recreational beach water due to heavy rainfall, cloudy water, a large number of swimmers, a large number of birds, shallow water, wet sand, winds and high waves.

There are no current Swim Advisories in the Town of Gravenhurst. For a full directory of beaches and swim locations, please visit www.gravenhurst.ca/beaches.
