A potential problem seems to have resulted in a resounding success for the organizers of the Tall Pines Music & Arts Festival. Up until 2024, the festival had been held at the Muskoka Wharf. However, due to the ongoing Bay and Beyond project in the Wharf area, the event was shifted to Gull Lake Rotary Park this year.
In a report to Gravenhurst Town Council, Kevin Goodman of the Tall Pines Music and Arts Festival said this year’s edition of the event was a resounding success, despite the venue change.
The community-centred, culturally curated two-day event took place on June July 19th and 20th. The festival featured a diverse and eclectic all-Canadian line-up of 15 artists including JUNO winners City and Colour, July Talk, Dan Mangan and JJ Wilde.
Goodman went over some of the relevant numbers including the fact that more than 5,000 people were on site for the event, the majority of whom had travelled to Muskoka from outside of the region. Organizers estimated the average spend of an out-of-town guest was $400, roughly 42% of the guests said were returning from last year and another 97% of the guests attending this year’s events said they would return next year.
Goodman thanked the municipality for its support and asked to continue to use the alternate location for future festivals.
Mayor Heidi Lorenz congratulated Goodman on the success of Tall Pines and thanked him for the presentation to council.
