Teen Jailed After Stolen Car Crash on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst

A 19-year-old New Brunswick man has been sentenced to jail time after a stolen vehicle crashed along Highway 11 in Gravenhurst last summer.

Aedan Haskett, 19, of Moncton, pleaded guilty in Bracebridge court to dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and breach of conditions.

Court heard that on Aug. 14, 2025, at about 7 p.m., officers with the Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11 North near Sedore Road in Gravenhurst.

Police said the vehicle narrowly missed a rock cut before crashing into a ditch. Four occupants were transported to hospital as a precaution, but none suffered significant injuries. Investigators determined the vehicle was travelling at a significant rate of speed at the time of the crash.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen on Aug. 10, 2025, from New Brunswick.

The court heard Haskett was a prohibited driver at the time of the incident and provided officers with a false name upon arrest.

Three passengers — a 14-year-old and two 15-year-olds, all from Moncton, N.B. — were also in the vehicle when it crashed.

Haskett was sentenced to 92 days in custody, followed by 12 months of probation.
