Over this school year, Gravenhurst High School proudly supported 82 students in finding meaningful cooperative education placements in our region. We are so grateful to the 50 employers who signed on to support the skills and knowledge development of these students as they explored their career pathway options.
Nine of these students were able to take their placement to the next level by signing on as registered apprentices through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP). These nine students will now have 85% of their post-secondary tuition requirements covered by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, in addition to other amazing career support.
Most impressively, three of those OYAP students were fully funded to complete their Level 1 training through Georgian College while they were still enrolled at GHS, giving them a huge head start on their career trajectory. We are so impressed with their commitment to their career pathway and know that they will literally build Muskoka when they graduate.
Congratulations to all of these students on their success and thank you so much to our community for being so supportive of the GHS Cooperative Education Program again this year.
