The Kearney Dog Sled Races Committee is delighted to be celebrating our 31st year, taking place on February 8th and 9th, 2025.
Ontario’s Largest sprint racing event is hosted at the Royal Legion Branch 276, located at 58 Edgewater Park Rd, Kearney. The festivities will begin each day at approximately 8:00 a.m. with a formal musher’s meeting, followed by the thrilling sight of our largest 8-Dog teams launching from the start line at 9:30 a.m.
The Kearney Dog Sled Races celebrate a cherished tradition, showcasing the historical and cultural importance of dog sledding in Canadian and Indigenous heritage. Over 100 teams will be racing in what has become a cornerstone festival for Ontario’s “biggest little town.” By hosting this event, we aim to preserve the spirit of winter dog sports while educating families about the joy and camaraderie these activities bring to both canines and humans.
Beyond the races, the weekend features an array of family-friendly activities, including dog sled rides, games, contests, a silent auction, and a variety of local vendors. Our event not only provides memorable experiences for attendees but also significantly boosts our local economy. During race weekend, Kearney’s population triples as competitors and spectators converge to celebrate this uniquely Canadian tradition.
