Body recovered in Windermere boat crash
July 15: Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vessel boating collision on July 14th, 2021 at 7:40 p.m. on Lake Rosseau near Windermere Marina after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls from members of the public. Witnesses described seeing several people in the water after the collision. Officers, along with Muskoka EMS, Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, the OPP Marine Unit, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and the OPP Aviation Unit responded.

Gravenhurst resident stabbed and robbed
October 7: Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from an address on First Street South in Gravenhurst, ON on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 9:40 p.m. regarding a man who had entered a residence, uninvited, instigated an argument with the residents and stabbed a visitor there. The suspect then stole a piece of property and left the residence.
The 22-year-old victim received treatment at hospital for minor injuries and has been released.

Downtown master plan includes splash pad, rooftop patio
September 28: Tearing down the old arena to build affordable housing, creating a skating rink and splash pad along the Muskoka River and potentially a museum in the former Bracebridge Library. These were just a few of the items included in a comprehensive downtown master plan released to Town council during the latest Bracebridge general committee meeting.

Reports of fatal fire in Gravenhurst
Aug. 31: There are unconfirmed reports this morning that one individual is dead and several families are now homeless after a blaze on First Street South in Gravenhurst.
At roughly 5 am, the Gravenhurst Fire Department sent out a post saying: ” All @GravenhurstFIRE stations on scene at a working structure fire on First St S. Several roads in the area are closed. Please avoid the area.”

Kilworthy man convicted for lying in Justin Evans investigation
Sept. 29: A Kilworthy man’s decision to lie to the police wasted valuable time in their investigation into the disappearance of Justin Evans, a Bracebridge Court heard yesterday.
Appearing virtually, Kenneth McKinney, 71, was sentenced to six months of house arrest for obstruction of justice.
Justin Evans of Kilworthy went missing in December of 2020. The 22-year-old’s body was found in May of 2021 near the trailer park where he lived.
