Torrance Barrens Reserve could use a little midsummer TLC and the folks from Muskoka BeerSpa and Clear Lake Brewing Co. are recruiting community-minded citizens to help with the cleanup.
This year’s Torrance Barrens Community Clean-Up is set for Sunday, July 31, at 10 am. Participants are invited to meet in the Torrance Barrens parking lot before fanning out to pick up litter throughout the park.
The hosts provide the garbage bags, hydration and nitrile gloves and even throw in a pizza party luncheon afterwards at the brewery for all of the participants.
This is the third year the Torrance clean-up has taken place. It began during the height of the pandemic in 2020, when the Barrens were seeing record numbers of guests, and record amounts of trash.
“We love that the Torrance Barrens is basically our backyard and we love that our resort guests have the opportunity to experience it,” said Melissa Whittle of Clear Lake Brewing Co. and Muskoka BeerSpa, reflecting on the clean-up last year. “We thought it right to call for a community clean-up, and it worked.”
