Town and Muskoka Discovery Centre team up for art exhibition

The Town of Gravenhurst is pleased to announce that it is teaming up with the Muskoka Discovery Centre to display local artwork at the municipal office (3-5 Pineridge Gate).

“This is an exciting opportunity for us,” Mayor Heidi Lorenz said. “We are delighted to provide a space to spotlight the vast artistic talent in our region.”

Spearheading the project is the town’s Public Art Advisory Committee with assistance from the Muskoka Discovery Centre, which is curating the artwork.

The first round of art was erected a few weeks ago in the lobby and the council chambers.

Featured is work by painter Raune-lea Marshall, whose outdoor imagery on display has a decidedly Muskoka feel about it.

Artwork in the lobby is viewable during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and pieces in the council chambers can be seen during committee and council meetings.

Displayed items are for sale and will be swapped out with different items periodically throughout the year.

The town is planning to hold an official open house in May to kick off the new project.

Watch the town’s website and social media channels for details.
