In December of 2023, the Bracebridge general committee agreed to change speed limits across the municipality to 40 km/hr. However, during tomorrow’s general committee meeting councillors will consider tweaking the limits to keep some roads above the 40 km/hr limit and one below.
In particular, the committee will vote on whether the speed limits on all municipal roads under the jurisdiction of the Town of Bracebridge suggested by staff should be approved.
The majority of local roads, both urban and rural, are set for 40 km/hr. However, some roads will be set at 60, 50 and 30 km/hr.
Sections of Lone Pine Drive, Cedar Lane and Rosewarne Drive will remain at 60 km/ hr. A list of more than 30 rural roads will be set to 50 km/hr, including sections of Peterson Road, Purbrook Road and South Monck Drive.
Ann Street from Aubrey Street to River Road which has particularly challenging sightlines and a railway crossing will be set at 30 km/hr.
