An altercation in a Gravenhurst tavern led to criminal charges in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.
Last month, Kaitlyn McQuarrie, 24, pled guilty to assault stemming from an incident that occurred on April 15, 2023.
Court heard that on that day at 11:30 pm police received a call regarding a disturbance at a tavern in Gravenhurst.
Court heard that McQuarrie overheard a “transphobic comment” directed at someone who was using the washroom at the tavern. A confrontation occurred in which McQuarrie grabbed the victim and bit them on the middle finger. The bite broke the skin and medical treatment was required for the victim, court heard.
McQuarrie has no criminal record, court heard. She was given a conditional discharge and two years of probation.
