Two Impaired Driving Charges Laid in Bracebridge

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two drivers with impaired driving following separate incidents in Bracebridge late last month.

On Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers with the Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team were conducting a RIDE check on Ecclestone Drive when they became concerned about the condition of a driver.

Police arrested and charged 20-year-old Rowan Gerard of Muskoka Lakes Township with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mgs. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 7, 2026.

In a separate incident, on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at 11:35 a.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer conducting patrol on Wellington Street initiated a traffic stop that led to a Highway Traffic Act investigation. During the investigation, police say alcohol became a factor.

As a result, 31-year-old Jacob Harding of Port Carling was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Over 80. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 14, 2026.

Police are reminding residents that impaired driving remains a serious safety concern. Anyone who suspects a driver is operating a vehicle while impaired is urged to call 911. Officers say reports from the public often lead to charges and help remove impaired drivers from Muskoka roads.
