A serious altercation in a Walmart parking lot ended in a conviction earlier this week for a Muskoka woman.
On Tuesday, Sherrie Harrison, pleaded guilty for her part in an attack on another woman.
Court heard that on April 26, 2020, Harrison and another individual were in their car when they saw the victim emerge from the Huntsville Walmart. The victim was pushing her four-year-old daughter in a shopping cart when Harrison approached her, began yelling at her and grabbed her by the shirt, court heard. Harrison then pulled the woman to the ground and smacked her head off the pavement before Harrison and another woman, who was charged separately, proceeded to kick the victim. Court heard the victim’s daughter was hysterical and crying during the attack. The victim later went to the police to report the incident.
The defense attorney asserted that Harrison believed the victim had previously slashed her tires in a dispute over a man. While the woman was never charged with slashing the tires, Harrison felt a full investigation had not taken place, court heard.
As part of a joint submission, Harrison was given a criminal discharge and sentenced to 12 months probation.
