Today marked another milestone for the Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre in the electrification and restoration of the Wanda III.
A new electric engine and generators were put in place by crane into the engine room at the Gravenhurst facility. Soon work will begin on installing and connecting this new equipment.
The Wanda is a 106-year-old historic steam yacht, one of the few remaining in North America. It was originally owned by the Eaton family.
Wanda III now has her first boathouse and permanent home in 63 years at the Discovery Centre in Muskoka Bay.
If all goes according to plan, they hope to see the vessel back out sailing the lake of Muskoka in the summer of 2022.
