Wayback Wednesday: Muskoka Road, Gravenhurst, 1924

By Doppler Online On January 12, 2022 Wayback Wednesday

From the Gravenhurst Archives:

Today we have a shot of some spectacular snowbanks on Muskoka Road in Gravenhurst in the winter of 1924.

Despite the towering drifts, the most snow ever recorded in Muskoka was in the winter of 1942-43 when the region was socked with some 566 cm (18′ 6″) of the white stuff, according to Environment Canada. That record was very nearly matched in 2007-2008 when more than 18 feet was recorded over the course of the winter.
