The caption reads:
“Attributed as “Uffington boys with a brag load” circa 1910″
“According to James Thwaites 1919-2013 former Muskoka Ambulance owner of 40 years & former Teamster himself in Haliburton county & east Muskoka during the depression. The sleigh bunks upon which the logs were loaded were 11’11” wide X 16′ long. This was considered the legal maximum size for a horse-drawn log sleigh, due to road requirements & safety protocols that were observed fairly strictly in most logging camps. The height of the load however ,was left to the discretion of the teamster.”
