We Need Adaptation and Mitigation

If your bathtub is overflowing, what would you do first? Grab a towel to mop up the mess? Or turn off the tap?

The District of Muskoka and all Area Municipalities have acknowledged that there is a Climate Emergency.

They are assessing the risks we face due to climate change through March 2022 with a view to having Climate Adaptation Plan by Dec 2022.  Any action will come well after the next municipal election.

So, we have a plan to develop a plan to adapt to climate change.

What we need urgently is a COMPREHENSIVE plan to mitigate the climate crisis by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) as we adapt to the climate impacts. i.e., we need to turn off the tap at the same time as we are grabbing for the towel to mop up the mess.

We need to demand more of our local politicians in this final year of their four-year terms.
