Weed and whiskey land Hwy. 11 driver in hot water

A 34-year-old man has been fined and banned from driving after pleading guilty to impaired driving in a Bracebridge courtroom.

Danie Price entered a guilty plea to driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood following an incident on Highway 11 last fall.

Court heard that on Oct. 25, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police received a call about a vehicle travelling northbound on Hwy. 11 that was crossing lane lines. The vehicle was reportedly seen nearly striking a guardrail before officers conducted a traffic stop.

Police told the court they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed an empty bottle of Wiser’s whisky along with a burned cannabis cigarette inside.

A roadside breath test later registered 134 milligrams of alcohol — well above the legal limit.

Price was sentenced to a $1,500 fine and a 12-month driving prohibition.
