A man’s exceptionally wild driving on Highway 11 in Huntsville landed him in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.
Earlier this month, Sheldon Dobney, 25, of Stouffville pleaded guilty to driving with a blood-alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
Court heard that on Aug. 22, 2021, the OPP received a complaint about a driver travelling in excess of 150 km/hr and passing cars on the right-hand shoulder of Highway 11.
The Huntsville OPP managed to catch up with the vehicle, a Cadillac SUV, which was found to be travelling at 147 km/hr at that point. They pulled over the driver, Dobney, who smelled of alcohol and was a suspended driver at the time. He ultimately blew 136 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
Dobney was sentenced to a two-year driving prohibition and 30 days in jail – the mandatory minimum due to previous convictions.
