WILDFIRE UPDATE: Bala Park Island ![]()
Yesterday, just before 5:00 PM, our fire crews were dispatched to a fast-moving wildfire on Bala Park Island.
Thanks to an early warning and a coordinated effort, firefighters from Bala, Torrance, Walkers Point, and Milford Bay arrived on the scene quickly. High winds were pushing the flames from the rail tracks toward four nearby structures, but our teams used specialized forestry tactics and gear to encircle the blaze. We are pleased to report the fire was under control by 7:00 PM.
How you can help:
Early detection is our best defence. If you see smoke or fire in the forest:
Call 911 or 310-FIRE (3473) immediately.
Note your exact location or any nearby landmarks before calling.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our Council for their ongoing support. The specialized training, tools, and gear provided to us were essential in keeping our crews safe and successful during this intense attack.
Stay safe, everyone! ![]()
