Winter parking ban in place across Lake of Bays

As winter weather returns, the Township of Lake of Bays reminds residents, visitors, and contractors that parking vehicles in a manner that interferes with winter operations, including snow plowing, sanding, and road maintenance, is prohibited.

This seasonal regulation helps ensure safe, efficient service delivery and protects all road users and our Municipal Operators. Vehicles that obstruct winter operations will be towed without warning at the owner’s expense, in accordance with Section 170 (12) of the Highway Traffic Act.

“I don’t think people always realise how dangerous it can be to leave a vehicle parked on the road in winter, especially once the snowbanks build up and the road narrows,” says Steve Peace, Director of Public Works. “When our plow operators come across a parked car, they sometimes have to back out long stretches in poor conditions. It’s not safe and it slows everyone down.”

The Township appreciates the public’s cooperation in helping keep Lake of Bays roads safe, accessible, and well-maintained throughout the winter season.
