The South Muskoka Hospital Foundation has announced a legacy gift exceeding $1.5 million from the estate of Joe and Joan Neveu. According to the Foundation, the donation is one of the most significant in its history and will be used to support a range of healthcare initiatives, including critical care services, updated technology, and capital projects.
The gift comes as part of Joe Neveu’s estate planning following the passing of his wife, Joan, in 2017. Joan Neveu had a long career in nursing, and the couple were known locally for their involvement in the community. The donation was made in both of their names.
The Foundation stated that, in addition to this gift, the Neveus supported several other local charities through their estate.
“This is a momentous time for our hospital and the communities we serve,” said Leah Walker, Executive Director of the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation.
Joe and Joan Neveu have been recognized on the Foundation’s Donor Wall of Distinction, and the organization says their contribution will be acknowledged in future redevelopment plans for the hospital.
The South Muskoka Hospital, located in Bracebridge, serves communities across Muskoka and the surrounding region. The Foundation raises funds to support ongoing improvements to local healthcare infrastructure and services.
