It’s been a rough start for the newly unveiled Storybook Trail at Woodchester Villa in Bracebridge.
Officially opened earlier this month, the new cultural attraction geared towards children has hit a number of stumbling blocks already.
The Town of Bracebridge reported today that they are aware of several grammatical errors in the text of Penny and the Trail of Wonders, which is laid out via text and illustrations along a number of stops in the vicinity of Woodchester Villa. The Town said they are aware of the grammatical errors that appear on some of the signs due to a production error and are working to correct them ASAP.
The town also said that the signage has already been hit with several instances of vandalism. They said the incidents have been reported to the opp.

The grammatical errors such as ‘ROMEing ’ instead of ‘roaming’ are not ‘production errors’ but a reflection of the lacklustre way the Town manages its affairs.
Vandalism?? Already? OPP called in? What, CSIS and RCMP not called in to assist. What did they expect.? Now a $50,000 deck (Town planner call it a viewing platform) in the woods on top of the rest of this travesty. Supposedly to overlook the Rona site. Perhaps someone was thinking of the Vatican with the so-called Rome reference above.
A waste of taxpayer dollars. A complete joke.
No doubt a ‘Storybook’ will come forth soon.

It’s a shame to have any attempt at providing something of interest to the public be vandalized. How sad that those doing the vandalizing having no respect for others.
On another note – did the Town receive a proof of the signage prior to going ahead with completion? If not, why not? Who was in charge of this project? What will it cost to correct the signs? Who is paying for the corrections? It certainly should not be the taxpayers.
And in the same vein – it’s WOODchester not Winchester.

This story has become all around theatrical comedy… . Why not add a few plaques for an update on grammatical errors and the extra cost to the taxpayers. Then a plaque about the vandalism and placement of the $50,000 deck which has occupied council for several meetings. 90 minutes of discussion on the placement around ancient white pine tree or near tree whilst 15 minutes on the giant sized fowler quarry.. OPP could do two investigations at same time.
