Bracebridge driver nabbed with cocaine

A speeding infraction led to bigger problems for a Bracebridge driver, a court recently heard.

Appearing in a Bracebridge courtroom, Benjamin Drouillard, 26, pled guilty to possession of cocaine.

Court heard that on May 6, 2021, Bracebridge OPP on patrol saw a black car going over the posted speed limit on Highway 11. Stopped in Bracebridge, police smelled marijuana from the driver, Drouillard, and saw some pills in the vehicle, court heard.

Police later found 3.5 grams of cocaine in Drouillard’s pants pocket.

He was ultimately given 12 months probation and a suspended sentence.
