Gravenhurst man decks co-worker, ends up in court

A Gravenhurst recently appeared in a Bracebridge courtroom to answer for punching another man in the face.

Glen Werney, 31, pled guilty to one count of assault stemming from an incident that occurred on Jan 5, 2024.

Court heard that on that day at roughly 6:30 am Werney was walking down Muskoka Road South in Gravenhurst when he encountered a former co-worker. Wenrey struck the other man with a closed fist before running away, court heard.

While the Crown said the dispute was work-related, Wenrey contended it was due to an unrelated disagreement.

Court heard Werney has previous convictions for assault and assault with a weapon.

He was given a suspended sentence and 18 months probation.
